Job Description
Position Overview: The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, writing, and coordinating grant proposals for government funding at the state (Massachusetts) and federal levels. The individual will work closely with leadership and program staff to identify funding opportunities that align with the organization's workforce development initiatives and ensure timely submission of high-quality proposals. The Grant Writer will focus on securing grants to support programs aimed at career development, economic inclusion, and digital literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Research and Identification:
- Research potential government funding sources (federal, state, local) in Massachusetts and across the U.S. that align with the nonprofit’s mission in workforce development.
- Stay updated on current government grant opportunities, deadlines, and requirements.
Grant Proposal Development:
- Collaborate with program directors and leadership to gather data and information needed for applications.
- Write compelling, clear, and concise grant proposals tailored to government funding agencies.
- Ensure proposals meet all funding guidelines, including compliance with program objectives, financial documentation, and other specific requirements.
Submission and Reporting:
- Manage the submission process, including preparing budgets, narratives, and supplementary documentation.
- Track and monitor the status of all proposals, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Prepare follow-up reports for grantors on funded programs, including outcomes and financial details.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with internal teams to develop strategic, data-driven program descriptions and outcomes for grant applications.
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies and funding partners.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in grant writing, particularly in securing government grants (Massachusetts and federal) for workforce development or related sectors.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with state and federal grant requirements, including Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and other relevant workforce development funding sources.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of Massachusetts workforce development landscape and key stakeholders.
- Experience with federal grants management systems (e.g., Grants.gov).
- Familiarity with workforce development programs, especially those targeting underserved populations, digital literacy, or economic inclusion.
