Job Description
ARES Corporation is seeking a Space Environments Engineer with experience conducting Micro Meteor and Orbital Debris (MMOD) risk assessments using Bumper software. The candidate will join ARES’ space consulting group with the potential to be a full-time or part-time employee.
This position has the potential to be fully remote, with occasional client site visits, for well qualified candidates.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluate spacecraft design, operation and applicable environments for susceptibilities to MMOD impacts.
- Evaluate the shielding and material properties for critical hardware and apply appropriate ballistic limit equations.
- Analysis must be conducted using NASA’s Bumper MMOD software.
- Evaluate Bumper outputs and communicate to engineering teams.
- Mentor and conduct Bumper training for other engineers.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have Bumper software expertise.
- Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills for system evaluation.
- Strong communication skills to work with management and customers.
- Strong time management and organization skills, with the capability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dedication to achieving outstanding customer results.
- Ability to learn systems and processes quickly in order to begin leading tasks.
Required Education/Experience:
- BS/BA degree in engineering, math, or science with 4 years or more professional experience in engineering or related technical field.
